Dear Community / Querida Comunidad
Dear community: as a team we’ve spent the last few weeks in reflection and important conversations about the current moment we are in, as well as taking tangible action steps to better serve our communities and honor the legacy of Pride. To echo an important question from the movement--how can there be Pride for some of us without liberation for all of us? The modern LGBTQ movement erupted through uprisings against police brutality led by Black and Brown transgender women. We will work to remain connected to their legacy this month and throughout the many months ahead.
We are feeling a wide range of emotions right now. We are saddened, frustrated, ashamed, and anxious--but we are also fired up and inspired by the leadership and action that is finally getting the attention it deserves. We know many of you are as well. We want you to know that we hear you, and stand with you. We need to stand together in this fight for each other. As a staff team, we acknowledge that we are still learning, and we are clear we have work to do to better serve our Black LGBTQ communities.
LGBTQ Connection was founded with the goal of listening to and lifting up underrepresented LGBTQ voices, changing unjust systems, and investing in community leadership--especially with our youth, people of color, elders, transgender people, and people from rural areas. Today, we recommit ourselves to those values, to continue to be in relationship with our communities, and to let our actions speak as loud as our words.

Also, on Monday, June 15, our parent organization, On The Move, shared this post as part of a longer message:
On The Move is committed to being a brave space; a brave space for self-reflection; a brave space for us to look at our internal practices; a brave space for our staff to develop and launch programs that meet the most pressing needs within our communities; and a brave space for us to be together and to be different. On The Move is proud of the leadership that is being shown by many of our staff in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, and stands by all of the amazing leaders that are fighting for justice.
Estimada comunidad: como un equipo, hemos pasado las últimas semanas reflexionando y manteniendo conversaciones importantes sobre el momento en el que nos encontramos, además de tomando medidas tangibles para poder servir mejor a nuestras comunidades y honrar el legado del Orgullo. Queremos repetir una pregunta muy importante del movimiento -- ¿Cómo puede existir el orgullo para unxs de nosotrxs si no hay liberación para todxs? El movimiento moderno LGBTQ agarró fuerza a traves de revueltas contra la brutalidad policial lideradas por mujeres transgénero negras y morenas. Trabajaremos para mantener una conexión a su legado este mes y durante todos los meses que siguen.
Sentimos muchas emociones en este momento. Estamos tristes, decepcionadxs, frustradxs, avergonzadxs y ansiosxs--pero también estamos inspiradxs por el liderazgo y acción que por fin están recibiendo la atención que merecen, y creemos que muchxs de ustedes se sienten iguales. Queremos decirles que lxs escuchamos, y estamos unidxs a su lado. Tenemos que ser unidxs para luchar para cada quien. Como un equipo de personal, reconocemos que todavía estamos aprendiendo, y sin duda tenemos que esforzarnos para mejor servir a nuestras comunidades LGBTQ negras.
LGBTQ Connection fue fundado con la meta de escuchar y apoyar a la gente que no tiene mucha representación, de cambiar sistemas injustos, y de invertir en liderazgo comunitario--especialmente con nuestxs jóvenes, con gente de color, gente de la tercera edad, gente transgénero, y gente de los áreas rurales. Hoy, nos comprometemos nuevamente con esos valores y a aprender a vivir en mejor solidaridad con las vidas negras. También comprometemos a continuar la relación que tenemos con nuestras comunidades, y que nuestras acciones hablen para nosotrxs.

También, el día lunes, 15 de junio, nuestra organización matriz, On The Move, publicó este como parte de un mensaje más largo:
On The Move está comprometido a ser un espacio valiente; un espacio valiente para la autorreflexión; un espacio valiente para que veamos nuestras prácticas internas; un espacio valiente para que nuestro personal desarrolle y ofrezca programas que satisfagan las necesidades más apremiantes dentro de nuestras comunidades; y un espacio valiente para que estemos juntos y seamos diferentes. On The Move se enorgullece del liderazgo que nuestro personal ha mostrado en solidaridad con el movimiento Black Lives Matter (las Vidas Negras Importan), y respalda a todos los líderes increíbles que luchan por la justicia.
